  14. PC-Draft-CAD release 3.06 is distributed as three self-extracting LHARC files.

  16. The list below shows the file names in each EXE file.

  21. To install PC-Draft-CAD:
  22.  
  23.   - if you received this shareware version on diskette, there should be
  24.     three EXE files: PCDCAD1.EXE PCDCAD2 and PCDCAD3.EXE:
  25.  
  26.      To install on your hard disk (C:) 
  27.                                                           
  28.       1 - Place this disk in drive A:                     
  29.       2 - Enter: [C:] to make it your current drive.      
  30.       3 - Enter: [A:INSTALL].                             
  31.                                                           
  32.      To install on a two floppy system, you must have
  33.            THREE formatted (empty) disks                    
  34.                                                           
  35.       1 - Place this disk in drive A:                     
  36.       2 - Place a blank disk in drive B:                  
  37.       3 - Enter: [B:] to make B: your current drive.      
  38.       4 - Enter: [A:PCDCAD1].                             
  39.       5 - After all files have been extracted from PCDCAD1,
  40.       6 - Place a new blank disk in drive B:
  41.       7 - repeast steps 4, 5 and 6 for PCDCAD2 and PCDCAD3.

  43.    - if you received this from a BBS you obviously have already extracted
  44.      the files (or you wouldn't be reading this!). To select the correct
  45.      display driver and to set up your sub-directories, run: BBSINST.BAT.

  48. How to install under Windows:

  51. To setup PC-Draft-CAD to run under Windows:
  52.  
  53. In program manager:
  54.  
  55. 1.   Open the group icon where you want to put the PC-Draft-CAD icon.
  56.  
  57. 2.   Click on the File menu and choose New.  The "New Program Object" 
  58.      dialog box displays.
  59.  
  60. 3.   "Program Item" is already selected, so simply click on the OK button.
  61.  
  62. 4.   The "Program Item Properties" dialog box appears. Enter the following
  63.      data:
  64.  
  65.      Description:        PC-Draft
  66.      Command Line:       C:\PCDCAD\DRAFT3.PIF
  67.      Working Directory:  C:\PCDCAD
  68.      Shortcut Key:       None
  69.  
  70. 5.   Click on the Change Icon button.  A warning box says: "There are no
  71.      Icons available....".  Click the OK button.

  73. 6.   In the "Change Icon" dialog box, enter a new File Name:

  75.           C:\PCDCAD\DRAFT3.ICO
  76.  
  77. 7.   Click on the OK button. It displays the Draft3 icon. Click on the
  78.      OK button again to exit back to the "Program Item Properties" dialog.

  80. 8.   Click on the OK button to exit. The Draft3 Icon should appear among
  81.      the others in your active group.

  83. 9    Double click on the Draft3 icon to start the CAD program.

  177. Known Problems:

  180. Expanded Memory Managers:
  181.  
  182. PC-Draft-CAD's own virtual memory management code automatically uses your
  183. expanded or extended memory. It may not be compatible with other memory
  184. management software. For example, Quarterdeck's QEMM. If you have a problem 
  185. running PC-Draft-CAD, try disabling your other memory managers and TSR
  186. (Terminate Stay Resident) programs. Alternatively you may disable
  187. PC-Draft-CAD's memory manager by adding the following environment variable
  188. via DOS's SET command:

  190.           SET PCDVM = /NOEMM/NOEXT
  191.  
  192. PC-Draft-CAD will still be able to create and edit large drawings by paging
  193. to a hard disk swap file.

  196. Zenith EGA display incompatibility:
  197.  
  198. For PC-Draft-CAD to work properly with the Zenith EGA display adapter
  199. (model Z-449), dip-switch number five (5) must be set to "OFF". this is
  200. called "Auto-Emulation Mode" in their manual. If switch 5 is "ON", the display
  201. drivers (VGADRV.COM and CGADRV.COM) will hang the system when run.

  203. Dip-switch 5 on the Zenity EGA board is the second switch from the top. 
  204. Moving the switch to the left is "OFF".

  211.  
  212. You can now more easily change the "Drawing Extents". The drawing extents are
  213. coordinates used by the Zoom All command to set the new viewport -- they are
  214. normally set to the farthest point you have drawn on the overall drawing area.

  216. Press [Alt+D] to change the extents. You then draw a box to indicate the 
  217. minimum and maximum coordinates.

  220. Area Calculation
  221.  
  222. Press [Alt+X] to turn on area calculation. A blank box appears below the 
  223. control panel. Move the cursor to one corner of the area, press [Enter], move
  224. to the opposite corner, press [Enter]. The area is shown in the box below
  225. the control panel. Repeat this process. Each sub-total is added to the total.
  226. Press [Esc] to end area calculation.
